Morbid
Morbid is a devised theatre piece centred around the character
of Mary. The audience witness Mary´s journey through the
after-life, as she battles with her own faith and comes face to
face with the life she has led and the death she is leading.
Trapped in her own nowhere land, she is confronted with the
possibility that mankind might not be at the centre of this
universe. Her own notions of a Christian paradise are challenged
as she finds herself a refugee in the war between heaven and
hell and looks to her other options for a life after death.
Along the way she starts to discover her absurdly existential
situation. Trapped between Christian values, atheist nothingness
and a hedonist revival back to life, Morbid is a look at a
universe where mankind is not at its centre and asks the
question……who cares?
Morbid premiered at ARTfart, Reykjavik, Iceland, 2009.
Also performed at The Royal Vauxhall Tavern, London, 2009.
